Eclipse of Love

I once painted my face
You wore angel’s wings
We both wore skirts
I recall the wildest things

You tame the wolf
And I tend the rose
Or is that the reverse
Of how it really goes?

I would like to say something
To kiss your lips
But I’m quite content
To settle for an Eclipse

of Love

Painted face, I care for you so
I look past the skin
‘Bove ‘n b’neath are more lovely
Than any words I can spin
