Cir got to the Fliar in the next moment after she hit the slime. She was peacefully floating when he reached her. Cir had no idea she was this tough.
“Well”, she started, “what took you so long to get here?”
Cir laughed. Before he hoisted her back out of the water, he asked her name. And she did not reply.
Out of the slime again, she let her feathers dry. Then without a word, she pulled him back out of the ooze. Realizing what he had to do, Cir vehemently shook his wings. The caked algae and hard barnaces cracked off to reveal that Cir’s feathers were now brilliant, iridescent white. Cir pounded his wings with all the strength he had gained swimming the slime. And he was aloft. He also sent his rescuer recoiling again, but this time he caught her and hung on.
